Unique Floral Decorations for Your Wedding Aisle

Creating the perfect space in which to make your most important promises takes some thought and consideration. On the day you walk down the aisle to say “I Do,” what will be surrounding you? What will set the stage for your entrance? How will you and your partner express your personalities and spirit before you even enter the room? These are great questions to ask yourselves as you plan the decor for your wedding ceremony. The wedding professionals at Griffin’s Weddings are here to walk with you through the entire decision-making process. We have some great ideas to get you started, plus we’ll be happy to talk with you about your ideas as we help you bring them to life. Take a look at some of your wedding aisle options.

Wedding Aisle Flowers

Traditional Bouquets

Often we see bundles of flowers, similar to the bride’s bouquet or those of the bridesmaids, attached to the ends of pews or chairs. These line the center aisle and make a beautiful passage for the bride as she floats towards her groom. Small versions of the bridal party’s bouquets are a great way to tie the space together and lend a sense of cohesiveness. You can also vary this concept with a little creative planning while keeping the traditional vibe alive. For instance, tie floral balls to the corners of chairs, or line the aisle with oversized bouquets that make a statement. Installations of hanging bouquets are another great way to line the aisle with gorgeous flowers creatively.

Scattered Flower Petals on Grass Aisle

Scattered Petals or Leaves

An aisle covered with individual flower petals in your wedding colors will make a gorgeous statement. Instead of a traditional runner, use petals to create a carpet worthy of a bride. Alternatively, you can create a path with scattered petals along both edges of the aisle. For a more natural look, opt for leaves instead of petals (or palm fronds for a tropical vibe). Garland can also make a beautiful, fresh statement of natural elegance. Choose leaves, flower petals or other foliage that reflect your vibe.

Plants on Aisle Chairs

Potted Plants and Flowers

Whether they’re in boxes, baskets, urns or vases, beautiful potted plants lining your wedding aisle create a particular essence while still being incredibly practical. Use wooden crates or lanterns for a rustic look, or have arrangements of colorful blooms in stately urns for a more formal design. Whatever you choose, your containers can be transferred to the reception for use as centerpieces, buffet tables, or other decor, giving you more bang for your buck. This also lends a sense of continuity between your wedding ceremony and reception that will delight guests.

Succulents and Cacti

These fabulous little plants are all the rage right now, and it’s easy to see why. Place succulents and cacti of all sizes in any particular container that goes with your wedding’s theme, place in asymmetric groupings along your aisle and voila! Instant modern style and tons of fresh, natural color. Whether you’re going for an earthy, natural vibe or a more formal look, these versatile plants are long-lasting and make great favors for guests to take home at the end of your special day, too!

Candles, Rugs, and other Items

If you’re looking for items other than flowers to line your wedding day walkway, think about special items like candles, lanterns, area rugs or get creative with something special to you and your partner. A new trend we’re seeing includes gorgeous, colorful Persian or area rugs in lieu of a traditional aisle runner. The effect is bright colors but a homey, earthy vibe. Likewise, hanging lanterns or placing candelabras along your aisle will bring a fresh look to your ceremony. Wrap candelabras with ivy or add baby’s breath to lanterns to include fresh foliage in your decor.

Any of these ideas can be combined to create the special, unique effect you’re looking for.
